Corsica, David Mackenzie, a perfect sense of cinema.

Qui aurait imaginé que rencontrer David Mackenzie à 22 heures et s'en aller souper avec l'équipe du Festival anglais et irlandais (il faut maintenant ajouter écossais)  révèlerait l'atmosphère de ses films ?

L'homme marchait sous cette pluie fine qui enveloppait la ville en ce soir de décembre. Le temps s'était donc mis de la partie pour   lui rappeler son Ecosse natale. Certes, Ajaccio n'est pas Glasgow, qui vit naître le réalisateur un jour de mai 1966, mais il flottait ce soir là dans l'air insulaire  cette atmosphère étrange et onirique qui est la marque de la plupart de ses films.

La projection du dernier film de David Mackenzie, Perfecsense,  venait de s'achever sur un grand succès, dans un plan de ténèbres où une voix off révélait l'amour d'un  couple au coeur  de la dernière nuit du monde. Dans Perfect sense, victime d'une épidémie, l'humanité est confrontée à la perte des cinq sens. Seul demeure le toucher où,   au-delà du verbe, les corps se  heurtent, se déchirent, s'effleurent et s'étreignent. Pour

Mackenzie, le monde meurt de ne pouvoir communiquer. En    témoignent des séquences   de longs silences où la perte de l'ouïe engendre le chaos. Le réalisateur avoue toutefois que le film est plus une métaphore de la condition humaine qu'une  histoire  de fin  du monde.....

Who would have imagined that meet David Mackenzie 22 hours and go have dinner with the team of English and Irish Festival (Scotland must now be added)would reveal the  atmosphere of his films? The man walked in the rain that enveloped the city this December evening. The time was therefore set for the party remind him of his native  Scotland. Certainly, Ajaccio is not Glasgow, which saw the birth of the director one day in May 1966, but that night he floated in the air this strange island and  dreamlike atmosphere that is the hallmark  most of his films.

The projection of David Mackenzie's latest film, Perfect Sense, had just ended a great success in terms of darkness, where a voiced off revealed the love of a couple  at the heart of the world last night. In Perfect Sense, a victim of an epidemic, humanity is faced with the loss of the five senses. Remains one touch, where beyond the  verb, body face, tear, to graze and hug. For Mackenzie, the world dies from not being able to communicate. Sequences demonstrated    long silences where the hearing loss  causes chaos. The director admits, however, that the film is more a metaphor about human living condition, than an end of world’s history.
