Le Dragon de Valpianu, Conte et Légende.
Non loin du hameau de Bonicardo, tout en bas de Valpianu, vivait un monstrueux dragon que les fées avaient chassé de la montagne de Muteri. Ceux qui avaient pu l'apercevoir et qui s'étaient enfuis juste à temps, avaient vu la bête immonde aux pattes acérées, cracher des flammes par la gueule en agitant ses énormes ailes et en balayant le sol de sa longue queue.
Personne n'osait s'aventurer dans ce lieu maudit. Un jour, un homme venu, on ne sait d'où, se proposa de le combattre si on lui donnait en échange un morceau de terre à cultiver. Les habitants acceptèrent la proposition du courageux jeune homme qui se nommait Padrone. Personne dans le canton, ne sut comment se déroula le combat et tous étaient persuadés qu'il ne reviendrait jamais. Sous les châtaigniers la bataille faisait rage; on entendait le souffle puissant du dragon qui crachait ses flammes, on entendait les branches craquer et le sol trembler. Après de longues et interminables heures, le silence revint.
Craintivement quelques villageois se dirigèrent vers le lieu du combat et virent le dragon étendu à terre et à ses côtés Padrone, tout ensanglanté mais vivant. Il fut porté en triomphe et durant 3 jours le village fêta cette victoire. Les fées voulurent récompenser le courage du jeune homme et lui promirent que ses récoltes seraient toujours abondantes, qu'il vivrait heureux et riche à la seule condition que jamais il ne chercha à savoir où était leur demeure.
Hélas, Padrone se rendit compte qu'il était tombé amoureux de l'une des fées. Un jour, alors qu'il emmenait son troupeau dans la campagne, il rencontra une strega qui lui proposa de le conduire à la demeure des fées. Quand il arriva enfin au bout d'une journée de marche, devant une grotte profonde, la sorcière disparut. Padrone s'avançât lentement et très ému, vers la grotte, lorsque soudain une lueur aveuglante en sortit et le pétrifia sur place avec son troupeau.

After long and endless hours, silence returned. Fearfully some villagers went to the place of battle and saw the dragon lying on the ground beside her and Padrone , covered in blood but still alive. He was carried in triumph for 3 days and the village celebrated this victory. Fairies wanted to reward the courage of the young man and
promised him that his crops will be always abundant, he would live happy and rich on condition that he never sought to know where their home was.
Alas, Padrone realized that he fell in love with one of the fairies. One day, as he was taking his flock in the country, he met a strega who proposed him to take him at the home of the fairies. When he finally arrived after a day of walking in front of a deep cave, the witch disappeared. Padrone slowly walked and deeply moved towards the cave, when suddenly a blinding light came out and froze him on the spot with his flock.
